Make A Great Inexpensive Camp Stove Windscreen

By Editor | August 27, 2008

Aluminum Camp Stove Wind Screen

You can make a great inexpensive windscreen out of a piece of 10-inch aluminum flashing.

Cut a piece long enough to go around your stove/cookset with an inch of clearance. (About 38 inches long.) Then cut 5-inch slits a few inches in from each end-one topto-bottom, and one bottom-to-top-and triangular vents every few inches along the bottom (Fig. 1). Slide the two slits together and use large paper clips to hold the edges flush (Fig. 2). To pack, simply roll it up and secure with rubber bands.
